Target Consumer Girls age 12
3
What We Wanted In The Glider
Goes far Goes straight Does stunts Smooth landing
4
What We Learned In Our Preliminary Glider
We learned not to put too much weight on the glider We learned not to put two wings in the glider because it doesn’t goes far with two We learned to have a rectangular back wings instead of a trapezoid shape We learned if you put back the wing it will go further We learned that you need weight on the nose of the glider
5
The Parts The whole glider (all the parts)
A closer view of the wingspan and the nose The rudder and back wings (you can move the rudders to do different things like stunts and go straight
6
Materials Balsa wood Styrofoam 4 grams of model clay Ruler
Hot glue gun Tape Scissors Rubber bands Adult supervision Last but certainly not least: your brains
7
Assemble Directions Measure eight inches of balsa wood then cut the wood Then cut two pieces of Styrofoam that are eight inches (20.32cm) Next measure two three inches of balsa wood Fourthly measure of 5 3/4 inches of Styrofoam Then measure 4 grams of model clay Put one piece of Styrofoam on the balsa wood with a rubber band to hold it in place Hot glue the two three inches on the piece of Styrofoam
8
Assembly Directions (continued…)
8) Hot glue the other piece of Styrofoam on then balsa wood pieces 9) With a rubber band, put the 5 3/4 inches on the balsa wood 10) Tape the two three inches of Styrofoam on the 5 3/4 inches of Styrofoam 11) Lastly put the 4 grams of model clay on the tip of the balsa wood
9
Flying Directions Grab the glider
Point it up and it will have smooth landing Point it straight and it will go far and have a smooth landing Point it down and it will make a curve and it goes down and come back up. It’s like turbulence
10
Adjustments When we pulled back the wings, it went farther
When we had two grams of clay, it did a loop When we had six grams of clay, it goes faster When we had four grams of clam, it had a smooth landing
