What is Climate? 50,000 years ago the US had an average temp that was several degrees cooler then it is now Climatology is the study of Earth’s climates and the factors that affect past, present, and future climatic changes

Normals Data used to describe an areas climate are compiled by meteorological records The data includes daily high and low temps, amounts of rainfall, wind speed and direction, humidity and air pressure This data is averages over a 30 year period to determine normals

What Causes Climate? The climate around the world varies greatly
Reasons fro climatic variations are latitude, topography, closeness of lakes and oceans, availability of moisture, global wind patterns, ocean currents and air masses
