After reading Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and Duty by Pamela Berkman, write an essay in which you compare how Shakespeare and Berkman each develop complex female characters over the course of the text by interactions with other characters and advancements in the plot or development of the theme. Support your answer with evidence from the text.

5. How long should my response be?
The first one to say “five paragraphs” loses a point.
Essays should be long enough to completely answer the prompt and short enough to be interesting.
At least one page
No more than three pages

6. Do I have to type it? No
Essay must be legible (I can’t grade what I can’t read)
If squinting at your work gives me more wrinkles, you lose points
IF you chose to type it, use a plain font no larger than a 12 point and double space

7. Do I do that RACE thing? Well, duh.

The FINAL essay is due on Jan 19, when you return from the three-day weekend
6th period: Yours is due when you come to take your Midterm

9. What kind of grade is it? This is a 100 point test grade
It should be added to this quarter’s grades WHEN you get it done on time

10. Do I need a graphic organizer
Well, probably.
When you submit a completed organizer with your essay, I will award and additional 10 points
You can use a Venn Diagram, Bubble Map, or outline
