Write what comes to your mind when you hear the words “climate change”.

Climate vs. Weather Weather: The day-to-day conditions of the Earth’s atmosphere. Ex. It’s cold and rainy today, but sunny and warmer tomorrow.

Climate vs. Weather Climate: Average weather conditions over long periods of time. *A region’s climate is defined by year to year patterns of temperature and precipitation.

What Causes Climate Differences?
Tilt of the Earth’s Axis: Sun’s rays strike Earth at different angles.

Altitude: The height above sea level.
*For every 160m (525ft), the temperature drops one degree Celsius.

Proximity to Water *Land gains and loses heat much faster than water. *Continental interiors have large yearly temperature ranges
