2 ELIZABETH BLACKWELL Elizabeth Blackwell was born in 1821.
She was the first female doctor in the United States.

3 She was rejected by almost all medical schools for being a woman.
When her application arrived at Geneva Medical College, New York, the administration asked the students to decide whether to admit her or not. The students thought it was a joke and approved her admission.

5 Finally, she graduated first in her class in 1849, becoming the first woman doctor of medicine in the modern era.  Dr. Blackwell fought all her life for the admission of women to medical schools

6 JANE GOODALL She was born in 1934.
She is a British primatologist, ethologist and anthropologist. Goodall has been awarded many honors for her tireless work. .

7 She has become famous for her detailed studies of chimpanzees in Tanzania, observing how they interact in family and social situations

8 Goodall is a strong supporter of animal rights
She has discovered that chimpanzees have the mental capacity to use and make simple tools, something that was previously thought to be uniquely human. CHIMPANZEE Goodall is a strong supporter of animal rights and has been part of many animal rights organizations. JANE GOODALL SPEECH
