Tendons – A tendon is a tough band of connective tissue that usually connects muscle to bone and is capable of withstanding tension.

4. Three Types of Muscles
The 3 types of muscle tissue are cardiac, smooth, and skeletal.
1. Cardiac muscle == makes up the heart; striated; involuntary control.

5. 2. Smooth muscle make up internal organs, except the heart: involuntary control.

6. 3. Skeletal muscle attached to the skeleton; striated; voluntary control.

7. Skeletal muscle is found throughout the body.
Cardiac muscle is ONLY in the heart. Smooth muscle is found within inner organs.

9. Two Groups of Muscles
Voluntary Muscles – muscles that we can control. Example: skeletal muscles, arm, legs, facial muscles.
Involuntary Muscles – muscles that we cannot control. Example: heart, stomach, esophagus, intestines.
