8. The Mentor’s Role Be present at the new member’s installation.
Schedule a time to chat and get to know the new member.
Express a special interest in getting to know more about the new member’s family, their interests, hobbies and career pursuits.
Determine a ‘commitment period’ for mentoring so the new member has time to understand and become engaged with Pilot.
Attend the New Member Orientation presentation.
Introduce the new member to other club members; create an informal time to socialize.
Keep the new member informed of service projects, fundraisers, etc.; follow through helping them become involved.
Share interesting information about the club structure, meeting format, etc.
Have fun and be encouraging!
