Saber The verbs saber and conocer both mean to know. They have irregular yo forms in the present tense. Use saber to say that you know a fact or piece of information. Use saber followed by an infinitive to say you know how to do something. ¿Sabes la dirección? Do you know the address? No sé hablar francés. I don’t know how to speak French.

Conocer Use conocer to say whether you know or are familiar with people, places, or things. Conozco al cocinero. I know the chef.
