Easy to defend.
Plenty of resources to use.
Water, timber.

5. Problems Shortages of food and clothing supplies.
Many men had no boots, no meat, no blankets.
Weather was not consistent.
Cold to warm = frozen to muddy, wet = diseases.
2,500 deaths by the end of camp.
