Seed-bearing plants have several adaptations that allow them to live away from water Fertilization Males produce pollen (male gamete) that can be blown by wind or carried by insects Female gametes (eggs) are protected by either cones or flowers from drying out Seeds Embryo is surrounded by a food source and a protective coat Seed coat prevents it from drying out
