The most interesting thing about the article is the fact that despite the current turmoil that exists in today’s society, the Boston Police Department purchased an ice cream truck in order to help the citizens of Boston during the warm summer months of the past six years by passing out free ice cream to children. Not only has the program been successful in their attempt to form a sense of community, “last week, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department unveiled its own ice cream operation, Operation Polar Cops” (para. 7). What makes this enterprise most interesting to me is the fact that not only does it enhance the sense of community in this trying time, but it also ensures that the drive to achieve this sense of community has resulted in a second ice cream truck in Boston, while also reaching other cities, as well.
