2 Fig. 1 Effect of DDC and DDC plus SOD incubation on ACh-induced endothelium-dependent relaxation of the aortic rings in sedentary and exercised WT and diabetic db/db mice. In WT mice, relaxation to ACh was slightly suppressed by incubation with DDC and maximal response was re-established when SOD was added to the bath (A, B and C). In sedentary db/db mice, response to ACh was significantly lower than the WT mice (°p<0.05 WT compared to db/db). DDC incubation did not decrease the response significantly. However, adding SOD to the bath in the presence of DDC increased the response significantly to the level of the WT mice (**p<0.05). In mild (Exe I) and moderate exercise (Exe II) diabetic mice, incubation with DDC significantly suppressed ACh response to the level of sedentary db/db mice (**p<0.05) (D and E). Adding SOD to the bath, in the presence of DDC, improved the response back to the initial level (*p<0.05) (D and E).
