1 Question 29

2 Question 30 Triangles ABC and DEF are shown on this coordinate grid.
The students should not use a calculator for this problem. They need to describe how the first triangle changed to become the second triangle. For this activity, A corresponds with D, B corresponds with E, and C corresponds with F. The students need to write about how ABC became DEF.

3 Question 30 Describe a sequence of transformations that verify that these triangles are geometrically similar. Triangle ABC is rotated 90 degrees clockwise about the origin and then dilated by a scale factor of 2 to make triangle DEF. In order to make DEF, the first triangle needs to be spun around. In order to spin a shape on a coordinate grid, we need to rotate it. In this case, it was rotated 90 degrees (one turn right) clockwise. That shape was then drawn. In order to make DEF, you need to dilate it (make it larger). Everything was doubled in that case so that is why it was increased.
