The speaker establishes credibility by showing his/her experience showing his/her expertise showing his/her trustworthiness using expert testimony using reliable sources If time, we will watch this quick video! ;)

But FIRST… A speaker must demonstrate decorum before he or she even has a chance to establish credibility. Decorum is the first ethical tactic. The art of fitting in. Showing proper decorum means acting “the way the audience expects you to act – not necessarily like your audience.”
5
Decorum: The art of the appropriate
Deliberative Argument is not about the truth, it’s about choices, and persuasive decorum changes to match the audience. In other words, decorum is about following the audience’s rules. In order to use decorum, you should adapt the way you present yourself (your dress, language, etc.) based on your audience and the occasion.

Other Important Terms Aporia Dialysis
Expressing real or simulated doubt or perplexity. Admitting ignorance eases your audience and aligns their thinking to yours. Ex. ““To be, or not to be: that is the question. Whether ‘tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles, And by opposing end them?” Dialysis The spelling out of alternatives, or presenting of “either-or” arguments that lead to a conclusion. Ex. “If you remember it, I have said enough, if not, my words will not provoke you.”

Finally, annotate in the margins of your large paper and analyze how Chavez’s ethos contributes to his overall purpose. Complete a Rhetorical Triangle for this piece.
