2 Acceleration Station Answer the following equations on your own sheet of paper. Make sure to show your work and use the appropriate units for each answer. A roller coaster car rapidly picks up speed as it rolls down a slope. As it starts down the slope, its speed is 8 m/s. But 4 seconds later, at the bottom of the slope, its speed is 28 m/s. What is its average acceleration? 5m/s/s A cyclist accelerates from 0 m/s to 8 m/s in 3 seconds. What is his acceleration? 2.67m/s/s You are traveling in a car that is moving at a velocity of 20 m/s. Suddenly, a car 10 meters in front of you clams on it’s brakes. At that moment, you also slam on your breaks and slow to 5 m/s. Calculate the acceleration if it took 2 seconds to slow your car down. 7.5m/s/s decelerating A ball is dropped from the top of a building. After 2 seconds, it’s velocity is measured to be 19.6 m/s. Calculate the acceleration of the dropped ball m/s/s A car changes speed from 30 km/h to 45km/h in 5 seconds. What is the average acceleration? 3km/h/s Maria accelerates at 0.5m/s/s. How fast is she going after 7 seconds? 3.5m/s

3 Motion Graphs and Force Block Model Station

4 Speed/Velocity and Weight Station
Solve the following problems. Show your work and put a square around your answer on your own sheet of paper. DON’T FORGET the UNIT!! Calculate the velocity of a dancer who moves 20m toward the right of the stage over the course of 40s. .5m/s right How far (in meters) will you travel in 2 minutes running at a rate of 8 m/s? 16 meters If a cyclist in the Tour de France traveled southwest a distance of 12,250 meters in one hour, what would the velocity of the cyclist be in km/h? km/h A trip to Cape Canaveral Florida takes 10 hours. The distance is 816 km. Calculate the average speed km/h How many seconds will it take for a satellite to travel 450 km at a rate of 120m/s? seconds If your mass on Earth is 30kg, what is your weight? 294 N If your weight on Earth is 180N, what is your mass in kg? 18.37kg What is the standard gravitational force in m/s/s? 9.8 m/s/s If your mass on Earth is 100kg, what is your weight? 980 N

5 Distance and Displacement
36. What is the difference between distance and displacement? Distance tells you how far you have gone (total) (scalar), Displacement tells you where you are relative to where you started (vector) 37. What is the difference between scalar and vector? Scalar-magnitude and unit, Vector-magnitude, unit, and a direction What are three examples of a scalar? time, distance, mass, speed, temperature What are three examples of a vector? velocity, acceleration, net force What is the coach's resulting displacement and distance of travel? Displacement = 55 yds Distance= 80 yards

6 Graphing Station 41. 42. 44. 43. No Movement Constant Speed
decelerating Constant Speed Explain what is happening in each of the graphs below…use appropriate science language and vocabulary.

7 Friction Station 45. What is static friction? Occurs when a force is applied, but does not move. 46. What is kinetic friction? Occurs between moving objects. 47. What is the difference between static and kinetic friction? Static friction does not move, kinetic friction does 48. How will the motion of a chair rolling on the ground change if the chair encounters a frictional force? The motion should slow down or stop 49. What are the factors the affect friction? Force and roughness What is the Law of Universal Gravitation- all objects in the universe attract each other through a gravitational force that is determined by the mass and distance between objects What are the two factors that affect the gravitational pull? Mass (directly) and distance (inversely)

8 Data Table of a Car Driving Down the Road.
Data Analysis Data Table of a Car Driving Down the Road. Total Distance (meters) Time (seconds) 20 2 50 4 100 6 150 8 What is the car’s average speed? m/s What is the car’s acceleration? 2.34 m/s/s What process did you use to calculate the car’s acceleration? Determine the velocity of the initial data point and the velocity of the final data point, use the acceleration formula to calculate the acceleration.
