2. What Are Text Structures?
Text structures are the way that a text is organized by the author with the specific purpose of“guiding” the reader’s way through the text.
There are SIX main text structures.

3. Chronological Events are ordered by time
Example – Write an example about what you did on Saturday. 1 2 3 4

4. Spatial
Arranging things according to their location in a space (area).
Example – Write three sentences about your room and where things are located.

5. Compare & Contrast
Finds similarities and differences
Example - Compare/contrast Ole Miss and Mississippi State

6. Cause and Effect
Defines a cause and what happens as a result of it. Shows how one event leads to another
Example – Write a paragraph about how you skipped school, which caused you to get suspended.

7. Order of Importance
Looks at events, characters, etc. and orders them from most to least important
Example – Write a paragraph about qualities you look for in a friend.

8. Problem/Solution States problem, actions taken, and ultimate solution
Example - Write a paragraph about having a flat tire and what you did to fix it.
