Adaptations and Biomes
Adaptations: a characteristic an organism has that helps them survive to their environment. There are three types of adaptations: structural, physiological and behavioural.

Structural adaptations
A Physical feature which helps the organism adapt to their environment. Examples: - Arctic fox – thick white coat in the winter, and a brownish grey coat in the summer - Porcupine – has sharp quills to defend against predators

Physiological Adaptation
A physical or chemical event that occurs within an organisms body that helps an organism adapt. Examples: - Wolves can change and maintain their temperature to suit their environment.

Behavioural Adaptation
Is what an organism does to survive the conditions. This may include: how they eat, mate, care for their young or burrow to escape predators. Examples: - An owl lines its nest with grass keeps the nest cool
