The scene is played in the balcony about the stage level or higher up in the loft.

4. Alarum A fighting sequence
Playwrights used “alarum” as modern-day film directors use a chase sequence or martial-arts duel. It sometimes involved actors running around the theater.

5. Aside
When an actor or actress speaks directly to the audience and is not heard by others on the stage.

6. Below, beneath
Speech or scene played from below the surface of the stage.
The actor stands inside the open trap-door.

7. Exit
The actor or actress leaves the stage.

8. Exeunt
Multiple people leave the stage.

9. Flourish A fanfare of trumpets is heard.
Usually announces the entrance of royalty.

10. Hautboys
Musicians enter playing instruments.

11. Omnes
Everyone reads the lines at the same time.

12. Within
Words spoken off-stage in what the audience would assume is an unseen room, corridor or the outdoors
