1. Writer’s Workshop Launching– Day 1
Teaching Point: Writers study mentor texts from the genre they are going to use in order to identify key elements of that genre. Active Engagement: We will review the Narrative Poem Checklist to remind ourselves of the elements of a narrative poem. Using the checklist, we will determine whether or not the poems we read contain narrative elements. Independent Practice: Use the Narrative Poem Checklist to determine if the poem you brought in today is a narrative poem. When you finish, turn and talk with your partner to discuss what you found.
