-it is a desire or energy in people to be continually interested and committed to a job, role or subject or to make an effort to attain a goal.

First, motivation is concerned with what activates human behavior. Second, motivation is concerned with what directs this behavior toward a particular goal. Third, motivation is concerned with how this behavior is sustained.
