Do your cells increase in size as you grow……OR, do you increase in the number of cells when you grow? Cells grow until they reach their size limit, then they either stop growing or they divide.

2 CELL SIZE LIMITATIONS As the cell grows, its volume increases much more rapidly than the surface area.

3 CELL SIZE LIMITATIONS:
1. The cell might have difficulty supplying nutrients and expelling enough waste products if they grow too large. 2. Small cells maintain more efficient transport systems. Unlike large cells where diffusion over large distances is slow and inefficient. 3. Cell size affects the ability of the cell to communicate instructions for cellular functions.
