When we please God, we’re living the life that’s best and happiest for ourselves, as well.. 1) PLAY Suggest SLIDE 3 = 1) SAY Today we’ll learn about trusting God from an Old Testament Bible character, {Ghid-eon=Gideon}. He learned that it is best to trust God even when it may not seem to make sense. To begin the narration, move the cursor over the title. ^*#{}#*^ MOVE 40,25 PLAY Read SAY Our story today comes from the book of Judges, chapter 7, verses 1 through 21. PLAY ReadReturn PLAY Acknowledge SAY The book of Judges is about a time before Israel had a king. PLAY Blink SAY The Israelites over and over again would disobey God and turn away from him. PLAY Alert SAY God would allow another nation to send armies and steal the Israelites’ food and property. PLAY RestPose SAY The people would turn back to God, and God would raise up a judge to deliver them. PLAY Explain SLIDE 4 = SAY {Ghid-eon=Gideon} was the sixth judge, or hero-leader, of Israel.

^*#{}#*^ MOVE 20,50 PLAY Explain SAY At that time, the {Mid-eanites=Midianites} were giving the people of Israel a hard time. PLAY RestPose SAY The {Mid-eanite=Midianite} army would swarm across the country on camels, stealing and destroying. PLAY GestureLeft SLIDE 5 = SAY The Israelites were left hungry, and hiding in the mountains and caves.

^*#{}#*^ MOVE 75,40 PLAY GestureRight SAY God sent an angel to {Ghid-eon=Gideon} with a message. PLAY Alert SAY The angel said: God says He is sending \emp\ you to save Israel from the {Mid-eanites=Midianites}. PLAY LookRight SLIDE 6 = SAY {Ghid-eon=Gideon} was afraid he could not do this job, but God showed him he was the chosen person.

32,000 ^*#{}#*^ PLAY Explain SAY {Ghid-eon=Gideon} gathered an army of 32 thousand men. NEXT SAY They camped at the spring of Harod. PLAY DoMagic1 SAY Just north of them the large {Mid-eanite=Midianite} army was camped in a valley. PLAY Confused SLIDE 7 = SAY The {Mid-eanite=Midianite} army had so many men and camels that it was hard to count them.

SAY God said to {Ghid-eon=Gideon}:You have too many men in your army. NEXT PLAY Explain SAY If you defeat the {Mid-eanites=Midianites} with so many men, the people will boast about their strength rather than trust \emp\ Me. PLAY DoMagic1 SAY So {Ghid-eon=Gideon} announced: Anyone who is afraid may go home.” SAY After this announcement, 22 thousand men left. SLIDE 8 = SAY So {Ghid-eon=Gideon} now had an army of 10 thousand.

10,000 300 ^*#{}#*^ MOVE 10,35 SAY Again God spoke to {Ghid-eon=Gideon}. PLAY LookLeft SAY You \emp\ still have too many men. NEXT SAY Take them down to the water and watch how they drink. PLAY Explain SAY If they lap the water from their hands like a dog, keep them. PLAY DoMagic1 SAY If they kneel down to drink, send them home. PLAY RestPose SAY {Ghid-eon=Gideon} obeyed God. When he sent home all the men who knelt down to drink, he was left with just three hundred soldiers! PLAY Pleased SLIDE 9 = SAY But God promised to give him the victory with this small group.

^*#{}#*^ MOVE 75,35 PLAY Confused SAY {Ghid-eon=Gideon} still felt uncertain. God knew he needed some reassurance. PLAY DoMagic1 SAY God told him to take his servant Purah and visit the {Mid-eanite=Midianite} camp to find encouragement. PLAY GestureRight SAY During the night, {Ghid-eon=Gideon} and Purah slipped into the {Mid-eanite=Midianite} camp. SAY They listened, and heard a man telling his friend about a dream. PLAY LookRight SAY I dreamed a round loaf of barley bread came tumbling into our camp, with such force it collapsed our tents, he said. SAY His friend replied, The bread must represent the sword of {Ghid-eon=Gideon} . This means God will give our camp into his hands! PLAY Explain SAY This encouraged {Ghid-eon=Gideon} , and he worshipped God. PLAY Pleased SLIDE 10 = SAY He returned to his own camp, and called out: Get up! The Lord has given the {Mid-eanite=Midianite} camp into our hands!

^*#{}#*^ MOVE 80,60 SAY {Ghid-eon=Gideon} divided his army into three groups and gave them strange weapons. PLAY GestureRight SAY Each man received a trumpet and a pottery jar with a torch inside, similar to these. PLAY RestPose SAY He gave these instructions: PLAY DoMagic1 SAY Watch me and do what I do. SLIDE 11 = SAY The men followed {Ghid-eons=Gideon’s} orders.

^*#{}#*^ MOVE 40,25 SAY Just as God was interested in {Ghid-eon=Gideon} and knew when he needed encouragement and support, God loves and cares for each one of you. PLAY Pleased SAY God is interested in each part of your life. You can trust Him for help in difficult times, praise Him in happy times, and believe in Jesus as Savior to save you from your sins. PLAY Explain SAY Just as {Ghid-eon=Gideon} trusted God, boys and girls today can trust Him to do what is best for \emp\ them, as they try to live in ways that please God.
