Sleep Unit Introduction
Anyone can argue about something. Arguments are written about important topics that the writer has investigated, so he/she can offer an informed point of view. A point of view is the author’s position toward a topic and the basis for his/her argument. In this unit you will be using the term argument to describe the point of view that an author gives on sleep.

Sleep Unit Introduction
Authors state their point of view by making a strong claim or claims. A claim is a statement that tells what the author is arguing. Authors support the claim or claims by providing reasons for the claim or claims, and supporting the reasons with evidence from sources that are trusted. Understanding an author’s point of view is part of getting the gist (what the article is about) of an article.
