Creating Strategic Lessons and Unit Plans

Essential Question: How can we create and implement units and lesson plans that follow the new CCRS, utilize strategic teaching practices, and follow a common pacing plan?

Before Compare a unit with a daily lesson. How are units created? What components make up units? T-Chart

Before T-Chart What changes in planning are necessary for creating units and lessons using the new CCRS? What changes in instructional strategies are necessary for creating units and lessons using the new CCRS? Small group and then write on chart paper on wall

During Table Talk/Graphic Organizer
Pair with someone who teaches the same or similar course(s) as you. Using your current Alabama Course of Study and Content Literacy Standards, map out the units to be taught in each course for the year. Identify preliminary placement of CoS/CCRS/Content Literacy Standards in units. Create lesson plans, in ST format, for at least one unit.

After Share units created with whole group, identifying essential questions, standards taught, and strategies utilized in each unit and lesson. Plan out timeframe for completing units and who will work together to facilitate so that the creativity and work are shared.
