When Alpine Valley opens in December, training will be at Alpine Valley from 3:30-5:30, Monday through Thursday, until our 1st race. PRACTICE DAYS 3:15-5:00 M-Th at school for conditioning, etc.
3:30-5:30 M-Th on ski when Alpine opens We begin with skiing fundamental then move to gate training when ski conditions allow. All team members need to help with carrying gear, set up and tear down. Some days practice will focus on Slalom (small to medium radius turns) and some days on Giant Slalom (medium to large radius turns). We will tell you which we are doing for the following day. We will discuss race tactics, procedures, and rules prior to the start of the first race. If you don’t understand something, please ask!
14
RACE DAYS Every race the team will have responsibility for a part of the setup as listed on the schedule. Team members arrive on hill 3:30 to help setup and warmup. Regular season races allow 8 racers per team (SL and GS could be different). JV racers will do 1 run after Varsity both Tuesday and Wednesdays, start times vary. Varsity and JV athletes should help each other! We do tournament style racing. Tuesdays are 2 runs of Slalom and Wednesdays are 2 runs of GS. Scoring based on all 4 runs! Score against 2-3 different teams each week, see schedule for matchups.

COACHING PHILOSOPHY Follow “Coaches Code of Conduct” found on lakelandeagles.org Varsity will be fastest 8 skiers (SL and GS can be separate). Also taken into account will be participation, work ethic, team support, sportsmanship. There will be movement in the lineup each week as we refine to final 8 for Divisionals and final 6 for LVC, Regionals, States. JV team depends on number of skiers on team. One run of slalom on Tuesday and one run of GS on Wednesday following completion of varsity. Integrity, character building, teamwork, sportsmanship, and hard work are all important traits that will be emphasized throughout the season. Skiers will achieve varsity ranking by participating in a minimum of one varsity race and through their team participation and commitment which the coach will be tracking throughout the season.

TEAM RULES Please see the Students “Athletic Code of Conduct” on lakelandeagles.org when registering On Time! Communicate with coach about being late or absent! Work Hard, Play Hard, Have Fun! Work together, share jobs, nobody leaves until everything is done on training days and especially race days when we will have specific set up and take down duties. Respect others, regardless of ability! Respect and obey Coaches. Respect equipment- your own, others, Lakeland’s, and Alpine Valley’s. Good sportsmanship, language and behavior toward others is a must!
