Ask A Cricket The Temperature
by: Delanie Snyder 12/5/14
2
Do crickets chirp more when it’s hot or cold?
3
The frequency of cricket chirping varies according to temperature
The frequency of cricket chirping varies according to temperature. To get a rough estimate of the temperature in degrees fahrenheit, count the number of chirps in 15 seconds and then add 37. The number you get will be an approximation of the outside temperature.
4
If you put crickets in warm temperature, then they will chirp more.
My Hypothesis If you put crickets in warm temperature, then they will chirp more.
5
Variables INDEPENDENT: Temperature DEPENDENT: Number of chirps
CONTROLS: Number of crickets, Type of crickets, and Place you put crickets
6
Procedure 1- Got supplies
2-Put same amount of crickets in 2 containers(2 crickets) 3-Put 1 container in warm temps, put the other in cool temps 4-recorded number of chirps for a week

Conclusion Crickets chirp more in warm temperatures than cool temperature. In cool temperatures I only got a total of 95 chirps. In warm temperatures I got a total of 205 chirps.
