2. What makes up a chunk?
A single chunk paragraph is typically made up of five sentences- the topic sentence, a concrete detail, two commentaries, and a concluding sentence, whereas a double chunk paragraph would have a second concrete detail with two more commentaries following. A topic sentence introduces what you are going to be talking about, a concrete detail is a fact that you can prove, commentary is your opinions/thoughts, and a concluding sentence wraps the paragraph up.

4. What is a TLCD?
A TLCD is a sentence that you would use to help your chunk flow more effectively and smoothly. A TCLD is made up of a transition, a lead-in, and a concrete detail. A transition is a word or phrase that keeps your paragraph from sounding choppy. A lead-in introduces whose perspective it is in and other aspects such as what, when, where, why, and how. finally, a concrete detail, as you know, is a quote or factual piece of evidence.

5. Sample Chunk Paragraph
Auggie believes that true true friendship is unconditional and he must help Jack even if might put him in danger. In the woods, while at camp, Auggie thinks, ¨This was the point where I knew I should run away as fast as i could, but Jack was still on the ground, and I wasn't about to leave him.¨ (page 266) Jack and Auggie are being bullied by seventh graders after they see Auggie and begin to make fun of him. Jack is on the ground because he defended Auggie against the seventh graders and in return, they push Jack. As a result, Jack tells Auggie to run so that he doesn't get hurt, but Auggie, although he might be risking his health, he believes that he must stay and defend Jack.
