1 Metadata analysis

2 Objectives of the Metadata analysis
Compilation and overview of the data availability and other information from the provisional IC sites. Basis for the selection of IC network Basis for a realistic planning of the IC exercise Basis for the planning of the IC database

3 Compilation of metadata
Information will be collected by the Commission (EC-JRC; EEWAI) to a metadatabase. Questionnaire and protocol for data exchange will be prepared by EEWAI MS (& CC) will collect information & send it to metadatabase (preceded by selection of provisional sites for the IC network)

4 Analysis of the Metadata
Summary compilation of the data will be carried out by EEWAI Expert groups evaluate the metadata, and point out (not: judge) possible inconsistencies (in the interpretations of the normative definitions) for the selection of IC sites Expert groups review the metadata and agree on what data will be needed for the intercalibration exercise

5 Information needed (1) Metadata & other information should be provided for: named sites, provisionally representative for the borderlines > 2 for high-good > 2 for good -moderate each common surface water body type selected for the intercalibration network, and present in the national territory of the Member State / Candidate Country.

6 Information needed (2) Description of the type according to the national typology system Pressure information and other supporting information Description of the pressures and evaluation of their importance Data availability for all biological quality elements (if available) supporting chemical and hydromorphological elements.

7 Information needed (3) Type-specific reference conditions
for biological quality elements chosen for IC description of method used to obtain reference conditions Description of the ecological quality status of IC sites according to national classification system (if available) description of the assessment methodology
