Although Alexander Graham Bell is most often associated with the invention of the telephone.
Bell is also credited with the invention of the metal detector in 1881.
In 1891, Bell had begun experiments to develop motor- powered heavier than aircraft .
Bell's own home used a primitive form of air conditioning in which fans blew currents of air across great blocks of ice.
