Warm-Up: Looking Back Did you predict Napoleon defeating Snowball and expelling him from the farm? If so, what gave you clues? If not, why did it surprise you?

Stalin vs. Trotsky 1880’s: Revolutionaries in Russia adopt Karl Marx’s ideals of a state run by the workers. 1920: Bolshevik revolution succeeds; king and nobility stripped of power, beginning the United Soviet Socialist Republic. 1920’s: Bolshevik leader, Vladimir Lenin, is ill. Two of his followers, Joseph Stalin and Leon Trotsky, compete to be the next leader.
