First Grade News Cary Woods Elementary Mrs. Miranda’s Class March 18-22, 2019 Important Dates Mar. 20- World Down Syndrome Day- Wear Blue/Yellow Mar. 29- Report Cards Mar. 29- Career Day- Dress Up Apr.2- World Autism Day- Wear Blue Apr. 5- Deadline for returning permission slip/payment for zoo field trip Apr. 11- PTO- 2nd Grade sings Apr st Grade to Montgomery Zoo Apr School Closed What We’re Learning Reading- Fairy Tales – Central Message/Lesson Phonics- Contractions & (Control R - er) Grammar/Writing- Publish opinion writing & Shades of Meaning Math- Place Value & Graphing Character Education- Career Skills Science/Social Studies- Landforms/Moon/Sun Sight Words- 4th Nine Weeks (There is a new sheet in your child’s binder of ALL RED WORDS – These must be mastered by the end of 1st Grade) PROCEDURES & EXPECTATIONS ALWAYS Reminders & News REGISTRATION FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR Mar. 18- Registration for current students begins! Apr. 1- Registration for new students to ACS begins! Zoo Field Trip - Don’t forget about our upcoming field trip to the Montgomery Zoo. Permission slips and payments are due on or before April 5th. 3. Please return Library books by Wednesday, so your child may check out new ones! 4. Please send your child with a healthy snack and water daily to their brains fueled! 5. I am so excited to dive into the last 9 weeks with your amazing children!
