27 AERA Division H Outstanding Publication Awards Division H: AERA’s home for people dedicated to applied research, evaluation, and assessment in the schools.

28 Background AERA typically focuses on journals and books.
About 40 years ago, Division H needed to show AERA’s membership that there’s a wealth of R&D in the schools that isn’t found in journals and books.  The real goal of the Division H Outstanding Publication competition is participation, not just awards.  At one point, there were over 100 entries each year.  About 1/3 of that now, even though today there are more outstanding publications than ever in our school systems. Share yours!  Show AERA that the evaluators, researchers, and assessment directors in the schools are the ones in touch with what works and what’s happening.

29 Categories for Entries

38 Reminder – Educator Shortage Survey
Colorado state statute and Federal law require CDE to report educator shortage data annually to provide support for shortage areas and for continuation of financial benefits. Each district must complete the Educator Shortage Survey prior to obtaining CDE approval on the Human Resources Snapshot. The survey should only be completed once for each district by appropriate staff. The district’s Human Resource team may be in the best position to respond to the survey. Click Educator Shortage Survey to begin the survey. Information found at:

40 Student End of Year

41 Student End of Year 2017-2018 Rates
The state 4-year graduation rate for the Class of 2018 was 80.7%, a 1.7 percentage point increase from last year. Part of the increase in the graduation rate (0.8 percentage points) is students are participating in the ASCENT program. Students participating in ASCENT who have met graduation requirements can now be recorded as graduates. (Students participating in ASCENT who have not met graduation requirements are coded as continuers.)   The state dropout rate decreased to 2.2%, an all-time low.

42 New Mobility Rate Calculation
Reminder of Mobility Rate definition change: Starting October 1st rather than the beginning of the school year All entry types are included if the student is enrolled on or after the October Count date.  All exit types are included (unless they are the graduating or completing exit types of 90, 92, 93, 94, and 95 or the exit type of ‘00’). A student must have a gap in attendance of more than 10 days in order to be considered mobile.  Improvements to mobility Cognos reports to be released soon!
