2 Cause and Effect We often call them cause AND effect paragraphs, but they’re more like cause OR effect paragraphs. They teach the reader about 3 causes or 3 effects of something important

3 Cause and Effect However, when you talk about effects, you start with one cause. When you talk about causes, you are focusing on one effect.

4 Cause and Effect Paragraphs
We normally use cause and effect paragraphs for a few reasons: To explain the good or bad effects of something so people can avoid or start something Exercising has three positive effects. A -> B1 A -> B2 A -> B3

We normally use cause and effect paragraphs for a few reasons: To explain the causes of a problem (or sometimes, something good), so we can understand how to prevent it Three causes of cheating are poor planning, bad communication with the teacher, and confusion. A1 ->B A2 -> B A3 -> B

6 Cause and Effect Paragraphs
We normally use cause and effect paragraphs for a few reasons: VERY UNCOMMON: To show how one event causes another, which causes another, which causes another. (This is more like a PROCESS paragraph). If a student is lazy, they may procrastinate. This may cause them to be late with their assignments. If they’re late, they’ll cheat.
