The role of EPD. Provide centralized Engineering and Physics expertise matrixed to LCLS Directorate activities. Establish and maintain standards for those services. Maintain and Control the LCLS Configuration. Track LCLS availability and assess risk.

27 people in the department supporting, (matrixed) LUSI MIE (increasing) LCLS Project (decreasing) LCLS Commissioning LCLS Operations and Improvements Other SLAC Accelerator projects Civil engineering and Building management Design supervision EPD provides Unified framework for Standards and Coordination Professional development and staff administration

XPP J. Langton, J. Defever CXI P. Montanez, A. Busse, D. Schafer, W. Olsen, M. Ramos XCS E. Bong, M. Kosovsky DCO E. Ortiz, T. Montagne, M. Campell Design Supervision P. Stephens, D. Arnett Design support through the Mechanical Design dept. 5 additional engineering positions are currently posted to support LCLS effort. BOA for Task Order based Engineering services in progress.

Summary The Engineering & Physics Division provides matrixed expertise and standards to LCLS efforts. The mechanical engineering staff is >half committed to LUSI. Additional people are being brought in. Additional EPD support for LUSI in Planning & Installation. Support will be given to meet ARRA advanced schedules.
