Marbury Vs. Madison 1803 Plaintiff William Marbury was promised by President John Adams a job in the supreme court. Marbury who was the defendant was president jeffersons secretary who didn’t give marbury the job.

Plaintiff and Defendant
Plaintiff- William Marbury sues for not getting the job as promised. Defendant- made the decision of not giving the job to Marbury.

Decision The decision that was made strengthened the judicial branch by giving specific powers to the judicial branch over the executive and legislative branch. Marbury still had rights to the commissions.

Lasting impact Because of the Marbury vs. Madison court case till now it still has an effect on court cases similar to this today.
