John Scopes: taught the idea of evolution in a school in Tennessee in 1925= illegal
ACLU: Said they would pay court costs for anyone who challenged the Tennessee law
William Jennings Bryan: Former lawyer, Democratic presidential candidate, prosecuted Scopes
Clarence Darrow: Lawyer from many trials including Pullman workers strike, defended Scopes

6. OUTCOME Scopes was found guilty and fined $100
Darrow get Bryan to admit, as a self-proclaimed biblical expert, that the earth was not created in six twenty four hour days
Bryan dies 5 days after trial
Tennessee law is not changed until 1967
