Digital Footprint Audrey Larocque
2
What is a digital footprint?
A digital footprint is the data we leave behind on digital services. Everything and anything you post and enter on sites can be found by other people. This includes things such as games and text messages.
3
Why is it important? This is important to know because it is important to understand that there are ways for people to recover all your information even if you think you have deleted it. Even the text messages you send your best friend containing information you do not want anyone else to know.
4
Examples An example of this is when you play an online game. From playing this online game, it is possible for people to collect your personal information. They can find out your name, address, address, IP address, digital images, personalized profiles and even your credit card information if you have ever used it online.

It is important to have a positive digital footprint for many reasons
It is important to have a positive digital footprint for many reasons. One example of that is when you are looking to get a job in the future, your employers can go online and see details about you. If you have a negative digital footprint they can choose to not hire you because of it. Also, your parents are able to go online and see what you are doing as well.
6
However, I do not think this means that you should not use online sites. They can be very useful. You just need to make sure you are using everything appropriately and leaving a positive digital footprint behind.
7
This is as simple as not writing, saying or liking inappropriate things. When you write inappropriate things, it is very hard to remove. You may think you have deleted it, but there Is always a way for someone else to find it. This also means not filling out unnecessary information's about yourself on unsafe websites. For example, if you are playing a game online and it asks you for a credit card number, you do not fill that in.
8
I believe that It is also important to respect other people's digital footprint. This means not posting or sharing information about people you know online. This includes pictures and personal information because it is their property and not yours. You need their permission before posting details about them. I am sure you would not like it if one of your friends posted something concerning you that you did not want anyone else to know.
