4. Structure Pre-select groups Include these groups in your lesson plans.
Two groups of 11, four groups of 6, etc.
Include these groups in your lesson plans.
Decide who will keep score beforehand.
Decide who will reward students.
Decide the order in which teams will answer questions.

5. Relevance Must relate to the topic you’re teaching.
Headbandz (If you’re teaching chloroplast, I should see some of the following terms: (chlorophyll, green, energy, glucose, etc.)
Answers to the questions you’re asking for the group activity should be found somewhere in the PowerPoint.

6. Challenging Work Challenge the students to think about questions.
During lecture, during activity, and the quiz.
Questions such as: “What?” doesn’t always challenge students.
