World War I – U.S Joins the War
Causes of U.S. declaration of war: Germans attack the Lusitania (Americans died) and the Zimmerman Note Germany asks Mexico to make war against US President Woodrow Wilson asks congress to declare war (1917)

WWI – End of the War Russia drops out and breaks out into civil war (1917). Germans make one last attempt to win but the U.S. presence makes a difference.

WWI – End of the War July 1918, Entente Forces push Germans back (Battle of the Marne) November 1918, Germans declare an armistice (break in the fighting)

Signed June 28, 1919 Separate peace agreements (Germany, Austria, Hungary, Turkey, Bulgaria) Germany forced to take blame, forced to pay damages, loses land, army minimized.

U.S. rejected the Treaty of Versailles(Article 14 – U.S. involvement in the L.O.N. Without U.S. support & participation, the League failed to exist. Most countries did not get what they wanted from the Treaty of V.

WWI -New Map Arabs in the middle east were upset because they did not get independence. German colonies in Africa came under British and French control.

New nations were created in Eastern Europe. Strengthened the U.S. Left Germany bitter. African and Middle Eastern countries left bitter.
