The different blood vessels
Veins – This blood vessel carries de-oxygenated (without oxygen) blood to the heart and lungs to pick up oxygen Arteries – This blood vessel carries oxygenated blood away from the heart to all parts of the body Capillaries – This blood vessel the one that connects the veins to the arteries. Basically, when the arteries go and send blood to all parts of the body so that the organs pick up the oxygen, the blood in the arteries lose its oxygen. Then when it has no more oxygen in it, it is sent to the capillaries to the veins which carry the blood to the heart and lungs to pick up oxygen.

Sides of the heart The right side of the heart – Veins carry the blood to the right ventricle and then to the right atrium and to the lungs to pick up oxygen. The left side of the heart – After picking up oxygen, the blood is shifted to the arteries through capillaries and then down to the left atrium and then to the left ventricle passing the valve. The valve gives a pressure here to send the blood. WHY IS IT GOING THROUGH TWO PARTS? Because the blood is travelling up, sometimes it might fall back down. Between each atrium and ventricle is a valve. When the blood passes through the right ventricle to the right atrium, the valve closes to make sure the blood doesn’t come back down. This also gives the blood a pressure to go up.
