Bill of Rights Basically the bill of rights was the compromise between the Federalists and the Antifederalists. The Bill of Rights was to protect the freedoms of all people against the power of the central government.

Amendment 1 The United States will have no preset religion. The people of America can practice any religion or no religion. People have freedom of speech. provides for the freedom to assemble---such allows people to come together to discuss or express opinions about an issue. The press had the right to print what is happening in the nation. The press can report on government and the leaders and all other events.

Amendment 2 Establishes and guarantees people the right to have a militia for their state as well as the nation having a military. Provides people with the right to own weapons for their own protection

Amendment 4 Proper search and seizure
People should be safe in their own home and not have to worry about the authorities barging in without good cause. Before police or other law enforcement can search your premises and/or confiscate items found they must have legal permission based upon probable cause. (search warrant)

Amendment 5 right to remain quiet, no double jeopardy
People are only required to answer for a crime once they are officially charged. people are only tried one time for a crime, cannot be tried repeatedly for the same exact crime. (double jeopardy) Ensures people are not punished for a crime without due process (rights given in amend.4-8) Property not taken without paying people for it.

Amendment 6 right to trial by jury;right to speedy trial
Guarantees the right of people to have a speedy trial with a jury of their peers. Each person knows what they are accused of doing wrong The right to an attorney is also guaranteed, whether you can afford one or not.

Amendment 7 right to jury trial for civil/common law cases
Guarantees the right to a speedy trial even if it is not a major crime

Amendment 8 punishment must fit crime, no cruel and unusual
A person can not receive a greater punishment than the severity of the crime. Cruel and unusual punishment---even with the death penalty it must not be cruel or painful.

Amendment 9 no interpretation can take away rights, no new laws can take rights
Any and all changes made to the constitution may not take away any established rights from the people.

AMENDMENT 10 states rights protected from federal gov.
Simply clarifies that any and all powers not specifically given to the federal government belong to the state and its people. That states have the right to make decisions for themselves and the best interest of its citizens.
