Place Value
3
rOUNDING Replacing a numerical value with another value that is approximately equal but has a shorter, simpler or more explicit representation. When we decide which place value we want to round, we look at the next smallest place value… If it is 5 or greater, we round our original place value up. If it is 4 or less, we keep our original place value as it is. We then replace all of the smaller place values with zeros.
