3 WHO HAS GOALS? Why is it so few people set goals?
Less than 5% of people have goals. Less than 1% of people write them down. Yet the most successful and richest people in the world are compulsive goal setters.

4 WHY DO SO FEW PEOPLE SET GOALS?
They don’t understand the importance of setting goals. They don’t know how to set goals. The fear of rejection. The fear of failure Think of your life as a football game, what would the game be like if there were no goals? Discuss!

5 Only 3% of graduating students had set goals for their lives.
1953 STUDY AT YALE UNIVERSITY Only 3% of graduating students had set goals for their lives. 20 years later in 1973 they went back and found that this 3% of students who had set goals were worth more financially than all of the other 97% of students who didn’t set goals put together.

6 Think of 1 big goal you have!
Discuss this goal with the class or in pairs. Do you think it is important to have goals? Imagine a football game with no goals. Discuss what you think a football game would be like without goals? Life is the same as a football game – without having a goal it’s difficult to score!!

7 EXCELLENCE Every human being has the ability to be average at certain things However we all have the ability to achieve excellence in at least one or more specific area We all have something valuable and special to offer the human race It is our responsibility to find out what we are excellent at!

What are the 5 things you value most in your life? In 30 seconds or less write down the 3 most important goals in your life. What would you do if you won £ in the lottery tomorrow? What would you do if you learned today that you only had 6 months to live?

9 5. What have you always wanted to do but have been afraid to do it?
6. What type of activity gives you the greatest feeling of self worth – the greatest feeling of importance, self satisfaction, joy? 7. Imagine a genie granted you one wish – but that wish had to be something to do with your future – what would you wish for?
