4. Professional mechanic

“I like to stand back when a project is all done and think about how it started off with a pile of wood and ended up being something people really want to own,” says Lucas with a big grin on his face. Standing beside the newly painted garden shed, he and his friends just finished for a neighbor. “Now I am looking for a bigger challenge. My uncle is putting up a new garage in his backyard, but he is worried about getting good work for a reasonable cost. I think he will give me the work, but he’s not crazy about me being the boss.”

7. Electrician
A lot of 16 year olds might not look forward to helping their father rewire the basement during a renovation of their house on a Saturday morning, but Latricia see the experience as part of her plan to become an electrician. “I’ve always been fascinated by electricity,” she says. “Being an electrician would be a great job choice because of the variety of places I could work,” explains Latricia.
