Learning How To Make Jewelry
Blog post #4
2
Why is this project worthwhile?
Learning how to make jewelry is worthwhile because I can do it with friends and it could become a hobby if I like doing it. I have wanted to learn for a long time and finally getting to do it definitely makes this project worthwhile.
3
What do I expect to learn in this project?
I expect to learn a potential new hobby and new design techniques for jewelry. If I like doing this then I will be able to learn more advanced ways of making jewelry, but if I want to stop doing it after this project I will have learned basic jewelry making techniques.
4
What challenges do I foresee in the next few months?
I expect that I will not understand how to make jewelry properly on the first try, no matter how good the video or website I am looking at is. I think that I will face a lot of challenges trying to understand any new techniques or terminology used by professionals.
5
What will I have to show at the end?
At the presentation at the end of the year, I will bring in some of the jewelry that I have made. One necklace, one bracelet, one ring, and one pair of earrings. I could also wear some of it, like a pair of earrings and a necklace.
6
What materials will I need, and where will I get them?
I will definitely need wire, beads, charms, chain, and earring hooks. I don’t know what else I will need, because I have never done anything like this before. I will get everything I need from Michaels craft store because I am sure they will have everything.
7
How do I hope to influence others through my work?
I hope to influence others by showing them that trying new crafts like this may be scary, and if you fail on the first or second try it is okay, because everyone does. I know I will not get everything right on my first piece of jewelry and it might look absolutely disgusting, but everyone makes mistakes and it’s normal to not get everything right the first time you do something new.
