Agenda: Warm-up Notes Activity: Carrying capacity Vocab Game Exit Ticket
2
Test next Thursday 3/9! 3/9!
3
Warm Up What is a heterotroph? List 3 examples.
4
Vocabulary Memory Game
Match word with definitions THEN, match word with picture AFTER, match word, definition, and picture together If you make a match you get to go again.
5
Essential Question: Describe the impact a limiting factor can have on an ecosystem.
6
Population Review: What is a population? Give two examples…
7
Population Review: What is a population? Give two examples…
A population is a group of living organisms.
8
Any factor (biotic or abiotic) that limits population size
Limiting Factors Any factor (biotic or abiotic) that limits population size Examples: Water Food Shelter/Habitat Predators
9
Carrying Capacity The number of one species an environment can support over a long time. Dependent on limiting factors
10
OH DEAR!!! Count off by fours (one’s are the deer, everyone else is a resource) Food (stomach), Water (mouth), Shelter (v-shape) Face away from each other. Everyone pick a sign, and turn around. Deer must find the same resource they are displaying and take it back to their side.
12
Observations Terrarium Observations (in ecosystem inquiry packet).
Write out numbers for temperature and organism observations Complete Part 5: Analyzing Population Data in your Ecosystem Inquiry Packet Graph grass, beans, crickets, and worms Answer part 5 questions Make sure to answer Part 2 questions B and C
13
Write an analysis paragraph. Include answers to the following question
Inquiry Packet: Part 8 Write an analysis paragraph. Include answers to the following question Complete sentences only!
14
**Complete sentences only**
Analysis Questions **Complete sentences only** Describe the food web in your ecosystem? What happened (observations) in your ecosystem? Limiting Factors? Did your ecosystem reach carrying capacity? What could you have down to improve your ecosystem?
