Vision: Develop knowledge and skills you need to succeed on the ACT in order to get where you want to go. Mission: Each student will increase ACT score by at least 2 points by the end of the semester.

6 Essential Question: How will the ACT impact my options after high school? (1st Period)

7 Test Review Look at your scores. Did you improve from the beginning of the year? Did you meet your personal goal? Are you on track to being college ready?

8 Minimum Requirements for Louisiana Public Colleges/Universities
Math: You must have a 19 English: You must have an 18 Our School Goal is: Graduating Seniors will earn an average of a 19 with 70% of the students earning at least an 18.

9 Are you college ready? The Benchmarks are scores on the ACT subject-area tests that represent the level of achievement required for students to have a 50% chance of obtaining a B or higher or about a 75% chance of obtaining a C or higher in corresponding credit-bearing first-year college courses. 10 TOPS There are 4 levels of TOPS. At each level you get more $$$$$!
Minimum ACT scores (combined with GPA requirements): TOPS Tech-17 (only applies to junior/community colleges) TOPS Opportunity-20 TOPS Performance-23 TOPS Honors-27

11 The ACT and Clearinghouse
The NCAA Clearinghouse uses a sliding scale between GPA and ACT to determine eligibility. This means the one can help balance out the others. Examples: If you have a 2.5 GPA you must have an average of a 17 on all sections of the ACT If you have a 2.3 GPA you must have an average of a 19 on all sections of the ACT

12 Exit Ticket: Looking at your ACT Score Report and reflecting on the passage and our discussion: What topic do you need most support on? Which difficulty is the biggest difficulty to you? Why? What solution do you think could help you the most? Why?
