3 General Job & Description
Armed Nuclear Security Officer Protecting the public from radiological sabotage using escalation of force up to deadly force if needed Conduct patrols, searches, respond to alarms and maintain control of all protected and vital areas. Insuring all items , equipment, personal that enter into the protected area on site are searched and is authorized to be on site and NRC. Escort equipment, vehicles, materials, and personal on site as needed. Support operations as needed for the production of safe and reliable power.

4 Qualifications and Requirements
Education Requirements Associate’s degree or higher, or four years or more military or law enforcement experience, or have NRA certifications with the pistol and rifle. Age Requirement Must be 21 years old or older. Physical and fitness test Must be able to pass a full physical and yearly physical fitness test. Background and Psychological test Must be able pass an background check, with Federal state and local agencies. Pass a credit check, and Psychological examination . Testing and Training Candidate must be able to complete with a passing score of 80% or hire all testing including firearms qualifications, as well as Computer Based Training (CBT), and job performance qualifications .

6 Interview Issues Five standard questions is not enough Knowing those selected are of integrity and character. Not having Security Force members involved in the hiring process.

7 Selection and Training
Selectees are failing the background check Selectees are not able to pass the firearms qualifications Nepotism Selectees are not able to pass the CBT Courses Training Department is not fully involved with the completion of selectees training.

8 Recommendations Change the online page job description to better represent the current job responsibilities and duties. Clarify the qualifications and requirements needed for employment Include the additional responsibilities Increase the education and requirements beyond above entry level Initial background check before interview

9 Additional Recommendations
Involve your Security Officers in the hiring process Selectees need to have firearm experience and or qualifications Hire because of experience not nepotism Compete involvement of training department from beginning to end
