1 St Luke’s Church of England School Newsletter 15 July 2016
Message from Mrs Tyler We had a great start to the week celebrating our five years since opening with the folk of St Luke’s Church. Thank you so much to all the families who were able to attend this special occasion. On Monday the children ran the Olympic torch around the block before ‘forming’ the Olympics rings in the playground. Not to be outdone by the British weather, we made a second attempt at Sports Day and it was well worth the effort, with great running and teamwork from staff, parents and children! The cup was won for the second year in a row by Faith. Well, the day has arrived when I have to say my goodbyes. I have loved working at St Luke’s and could not wish for a more supportive group of staff, parents, governors and children. My greatest delight has been watching the children grow up, through good days and bad – they never fail to amaze me (in a good way!) and I am very proud of them all – hence your gift of the video of the children singing and speaking is so precious. I feel extremely blessed to have been able to play my part in helping to lay down secure foundations for our children since the school was established five years ago. Lines from our St Luke’s song convey my thoughts today better than I can… “I’ll remember being here in St Luke’s, for all my life… I’ll remember Faith, Hope and Love, for all my life… so happy together”. Thank you for your support and encouragement and helping to make this ‘school family’. However, it is now time to pass the baton on so that the school can start its next chapter, under the leadership of Mrs Fall. As we look to the future, my hope is for you and your families that “Wherever you go, whatever you do, may the blessing of God go with you”. Well done to those children with a full year of 100% attendance: Lex, Alex C, Edward, Nasser, Hyman, Zephyr, Thomas B Well done to those children with 100% attendance for the summer term: Ethan, Joe B, Lawrence, Christian MS, Raynard, Shaun L, Anna, Gaia, Carla, Freddie, Liliana, Mokshau, Alexander J, Zoe, Kanako, Ludovica, Scarlett, Daniel C, Jed, Finley, Ella L Farewell to Mrs Patel and Mrs O’Rourke I know the whole school community will want to wish both Anila and Kara well for the future and thank them for their hard work and commitment to the school over the past five years.   Mrs O’Rourke has been at St Luke’s since day one, with Mrs Patel joining the following year – both have given so much of themselves to our school and have been integral in making St Luke’s what it is today.  Thank you both – you will be greatly missed. Farewell to Odile and Giulia, who are leaving St Luke’s today. Thank you girls for being great SLS role models – we wish you and your families all the very best for the future. The staff would like to thank you all very much for all the gifts, cards and good wishes we have received. We wish you all a very happy holiday! Well done to Carlotta who won the PFA’s jam jar competition. Congratulations to Kanako’s family who won the PFA Euro 2016 Football sweepstake, and to Nasser and Aleya’s family who won the hamper raffle.
