Practice Behavior 5.1 Understand the forms and mechanisms of oppression and discrimination
At the town hall meeting I attended last week, I was able to gain a better understanding of some of the forms of oppression and discrimination we currently face. One form of oppression we currently face is involves the passage of voter I.D. laws. These laws are a clear example of the use of power to keep minorities and other special populations from practicing their right to vote. Voter ID laws also discriminate. They are discriminatory in that they disparately impact non-whites, the poor, the elderly, and college students.

Practice Behavior 5.2 Advocate for human rights and social and economic justice
I have advocated for human rights and social and economic justice by signing several petitions relating to: Juvenile justice Voter I.D. laws Abortion Affordable Health Care Affordable Education

Practice Behavior 5.3 Engage in practices that advance social and economic justice.
Engaged in practices that advance social and economic justice issues by joining advocacy groups and writing letters to our representatives on the aforementioned problems/issues that we are currently facing.
